Tips to Help in Raising Your Newborn
A child is not a bought thing, but a created being in the image of God. These beings are not born holding their instruction guides either is it mailed to our mailboxes. Once a new thing is introduced we go through training to ensure that we understand how it works and how to use it.
Our God-given instincts come into place and ensure that we raise them to be great people and help them in exploring who they are. At times we get guidance from those who have parented before. Here are some guidelines that will be of help as you nurture our tomorrow’s leaders.
Giving your baby food
Feeding for children is important together with having enough rest. A minimum of 3 feeds per day is what is recommended by pediatricians. But you should also feed them when they show they are hungry.Breastfeeding or giving them formula milk are the two recommended types of feeds.Do not decide on which feeding program for your baby without consulting a pediatrician. When breastfeeding it is recommended to do so for 6 months exclusively and up to 2 years of age by WHO.Breast milk ensure your child has the necessary nutrients for healthy growth and boosts their immunity. There are nursing covers that will give you and your little one privacy as you feed them in public.
A good resting place for your infant
Sleeping is the second most important aspect of their growth. Sleeps not only helps in relaxation in toddlers but is also vital to their growth. A young one should rest for at least 18 hours within a 24 hour period. As they grow the sleeping hours reduce. Your child needs a clean sleeping area; with a good firm mattress and enough bedding.
Ensuring they are clean
Clean your infant frequently and at least twice in one week. When cleaning them use a mild soap and some warm water. Clean them in a warm environment like a room with a heater to ensure they don’t catch a cold. Moisturize their soft skin with baby oil. Cover them up with right attire if the weather is cold dress them warmly.
Change diapers regularly
Do not purchase diapers in bulk till you have ascertained that it is the one suitable for your child for all babies are different.
A baby can need up to 10 diaper changes in a day. Check if they need a change after every 4 hours or whenever necessary. Staying with a soiled diaper for long can cause rashes that at times may be painful.
In conclusion, after they have fed ensure that you burp your baby after feeding. Ensure you have a pediatrician contact who you can reach out to in case of an emergency.
